On PopRule: "I started it to get the tools back into people’s hands - so they could take political action and effect change in their own lives. We live in a country of representative government, but in a sense we’ve been duped. We create this incredible relationship with our elected officials during their campaigns, but the moment they take office the relationship basically ends."

Limbaugh says: It's the "Exercise Freaks" Causing Healthcare Strain!
Rush Limbaugh proclaims that it is the "exercisers" who are responsible for escalating health care costs.
-Gotta love the irony - an overweight and unhealthy looking individual popping off about people who actually take care of themselves.
-Exercise causes skin cancer? Who knew - thanks for that tidbit, Rush
-Exercise is the very intervention that could save billions in healthcare costs.

Will Michele Bachmann appear on the Alex Jones show?
Radio host Alex Jones has stirred up considerable controversy over the years, talking about FEMA concentration camps, promoting 9/11 conspiracies, and comparing President Obama to Adolph Hitler and Joseph Stalin. Yesterday, several media outlets reported that Jones said Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) would soon be appearing on his show. “She’s on next week,” he said.

Racism First: Pat Buchanan's "Conferenece"
Indeed, the point of the confereneece (I’ll add in an extra ‘e’ for evil) was to revive racism in the Republican Party in hopes of winning over “working class white Democrats” and “building the new majority.” (Of course, there’s already more than enough racism both in the GOP and in Buchanan’s right-wing nativist circles to feed off and build upon).

The Perils, Promise Of White House 2.0
Barack Obama won election last fall in no small measure due to his campaign's embrace of online social networking and "Web 2.0" technologies. And while, as president, Obama has also sought to continue that embrace, the use of those systems in government has been fraught with challenges, according to a lawyer who helped set up Obama's WhiteHouse.gov site.

By his actions, or lack of actions, Governor Sanford has broken his covenant with the people of South Carolina. They should seriously consider whether he should remain in office as their elected leader.

The Ridiculous Comparison of Sanford to Clinton
In reviewing the comments about Governor Sanford's situation in some of the news sites and blogs, it is interesting to see that many Republican responders are saying it's not that bad if it is compared with what President Clinton did in the Oval Office. It is truly a ridiculous comparison.

Rush Limbaugh Criticizes President Obama's 'Black Handshake'
Another day, another Rush Limbaugh controversy with racial overtones. On his radio show Monday, Limbaugh was firing his usual litany of complaints against President Barack Obama, likening his brand of liberalism to "totalitarianism," and generally bemoaning what he sees as a weak-kneed foreign policy. Then the entertainer did what he so often does, he infused race into the equation.

Weakening Grass Roots Efforts
The grass roots element in the United States has been very successful. The Democrats, starting with Howard Dean and culminating with Barack Obama, learned how to harness the Internet to engage ordinary Americans in the grass roots effort. But those efforts, and the successes that they generated, are being threatened because of one single fact.

Some Banks in ‘Healthy’ Bank Program Appear Not So Healthy
Recipient banks across the country have emphasized that the program is not a bailout for banks. But some of the banks receiving money under the program don’t meet a commonsense definition of “healthy.” Citigroup and Bank of America, for instance, were among the first banks to receive money, only to need further injections of money.

Wingnuts of the Week 8: Ed Schulz and Ann Coulter
Ann Coulter said: “I am personally opposed to shooting abortionists, but I don’t want to impose my moral values on others.”
Ed Schulz could have taken a cue from another strong Democratic partisan with a genuine southern accent, James Carville, who expressed compassion for Governor Sanford as a man in pain over his human frailty. But Ed Schultz was on a ‘no mercy’ mission.

A Republican comeback?
A pretty balanced article. I think the Republicans biggest problems are lack of leadership and lack of a moderate message that will resonate with the majority of voters. As long as the continue to rely on the likes of Cheney, Limbaugh, Palin and Gingrich to get their "message" out, the Democrats will do well.
